I'm happy to announce that my newest illustration is now available to the public--part one of a planned series of three (with options for more possible).  I think you'll agree once you see it that it's somewhat different than my usual fare.

Normally I'd be all "look here, new art!" and point you to my site.  But why waste time?  The REAL goods (read: wallpapers and information about a killer project I'm involved with) are located here  --> [link]

Unfortunately, this will not be available as a print due to lower resolution and rights agreements.  Hopefully one or more of the subsequent pieces for this concept art spree WILL be.  That's the goal, anyways.

Enjoy!

I think the values could be a little more evenly spread for a more balanced composition, but I still think it's beautiful and a very inspiring piece of concept art. "The Silver Legacy" looks very promising. :)

Not posting the image on deviantart?

...and no, this image won't be posted here. I still don't trust DA entirely, so this account is being used for print materials only.

Thanks for the critique, you're most likely right. Basically, the beginning instructions of the screenwriter to me in regards to this image was "A black horse [thing], with a guy in black, on the black shores of [location], at night." I just about lost it, and told her she could never borrow my black crayon again. So this was a challenge and a definite learning experience (first time drawing a horse or a person). The next ones will be more in my comfort zone, so I'll keep a closer eye on composition. For the record though, drawing for this time of day is a b*tch.

On the one hand it is, on the other it isn't - darkness is a great tool for concealing lack of detail (though I don't imagine you require it). ;P

Anyway, looking forward to seeing more works from you - especially from within this project, as it's very interesting to see your skills applied to the conceptual direction of others. :)

that's indeed somewhat different from your previous works. it's pretty nice, even though I'm not entirely sure if I like those extreme values, I think personally I would prefera slightly softer lighting and "harder" look at places. but good work, nonetheless. how long did it take you?

Took me about a month in evening and weekend time to produce while in close conceptual collaboration with a screenwriter.
